Compare & Contrast Essay: Visiting Japan may be dangerous.

Visiting Japan may be dangerous

by DongSeok

2011.3.11. 2:46PM, you remember that a 9.0 magnitude earthquake hit the region in northeast Japan. For that reason, Japan was thrown into complete chaos by Tsunami. That made so many victims over fifty thousand. However that was not end. The natural disasters damaged the nuclear plant in Fukushima. It had let a nuclear crisis. Japanese exposured to radioactivity and the city became nothing. And now 2 years passed.

Recently many people visit Japan for yen slack. I also planed to visit there for summer vacation. However, I decided not to visit Japan watching the video in the "Youtube" by chance. One radiation expert in Greenpeace says It's still a grave situation in Japan. Not people but also Foods are not free from this radiation.

Now, I let you know the people planning to visit Japan how danger. I'm going to tell you first of all the radiation exposure in Japane. Next, the outcome and last, the symptom.

There are reasons that visiting japan may be dangerous.

First, The radiation covers the air in Japan more than the time the world war2 atom bomb on Japan, says professor Hiroaki Koida. It's more 500times danger than the atom bomb. In spite of this of this, Japan government is hiding the truth.

Second, we can see deformed animals and plant in Japan after that time. For instance, mouse and cabbage are bigger comparing to the average. And rabbit without the ears. Lots of lives are born with reformed shape. People don't exceptional.

Last, the pollution matters caused by radiation will accumulate in the body from eating and breathing. And also this accumulation into body is contagious having your baby.

Someone may ask back this disaster was already 2 years passed. However, radiation is spending time hundreds of years until disappear. And also someone may say thet are only going for 2 or 3 days, so they're not worried. Then you should know few matters coming to our body goes on increasing and remain until we pass away.

Like this the radiation is deadly harmful. And Japan is very extremely serious level of the radiation exposure. The Explosion of the nuclear plant in Russia in 1986 still bothers Russian so far. So you could remain for reasons mention above. I recommend that visiting Japan may be dangerous.

Descritive essay: Friday Night Gangnam Fever

Friday Night Gangnam Fever
by DongSeok

Today is Friday and I greet Friday happily. I am waiting for it immediately. The dark night finally has embroidery of shining stars. I go out to the night city of Gangnam. The streets in Gangnam stimulate me with a song in my eardrums and a shining light dazzles my eyes.

At 9:00PM, people who enjoy the night blow life into Friday night. They are everywhere like a flood, sprinkled with perfume fragrances and everyone is wearing nice clothes to express their individuality. There are many people in the pub eating spicy food and bitter alcoholic drinks. Serious faces are huddled together for the night. Their figures look like warriors before war. I am totally in a Serengeti grassland because I have decided tonight will be a best night.

At 01:00AM, a man who is drunk looks for a beautiful woman with eyes red like a hyena. "Find! Oh! Beautiful lady, I am drunken by your sweet scent. Please let's be a together this night. I can't go to bed tonight, if you ignore my proposition." However, a woman rejects him with a cold smile and disappears into the deep darkness leaving just her shampoo smell. A cruel darkness whispers to the men, "DON'T GIVE UP GUYS!" I'm also still standing in the city on this lonely cruel night.

At 05:00AM, the sun shows its face gradually. People avoid the brightness with distorted faces like Dracula. Some people are lying on the street like sticky slobs. But I don't worry about it because they will soon be alive and go away like Zombies. The streets are decorated with rubbish, Draculas and Zombies go far away to their final destinations. Finally the night which was dark, raw and terrible finishes. Then, I also go back to my lovely home.

The passionate, horrible Friday night I can't avoid will soon come again and I will want to know where to find such a beautiful scarry thing. Suddenly, someone is crying, "Thank god for giving us friday night!"

Descritive Essay : Memorable Places of My Life

Memorable Places of My Life

                                                                                                                                                By Carl

Everyone has a memorable place. Where is your place to remind your supreme memory? A Memorable place means a space that you don't forget because it made a unforgettable memory to you. My memorable place is Yang-su-ri in Yang-peong. I lived in Yang-su-ri for 3 years during high school. That place made me a beautiful memory for 3 years, In addition it had a special something

While going to Yang-su-ri, you can see the Pal-dang dam. There is one lane roads in side of Pal-dang dam. As most people went through this road, They were writing the trace on wall in side of this road. So this road looks like not alone and happy. At the end of this road, there is the Yang-su-ri, it looks like a island. It is located between Namhangang and Bukhangang. So you can see the more water flow in everywhere at the Yang-su-ri. The water shone from the sun is as shiny as the star that was in middle of a darkness

The Yang-su-ri is famous for a lot of reasons. If you go there in the morning, Sometimes you can see the dreamlike water fog that you can't see in anywhere. It looks like a alive Milky Way. Actually, people say that photographers want to take a picture there for it's special water fog picture. While going for a walk in the Yang-su-ri, sweat and cool smell attack your nose. This smell is lotus. There are many lotus swimming in the river. So sometimes Yang-su-ri has a lotus festival. That's why Yang-su-ri is famous from people.

During high school in 3 years, I lived in dormitory at there. This school name is Yangseo high school near Yang seo station. it surrounded by only forest and sky. Contrary to city, I thought that Sky looked like a celling and forest looked like a wall. At that time when I failed the first love, I fought with my friend, I had grew up in there with natural and friend because we together lived in narrow room at dormitory for 3 years without electronic equipment. So, that's why Yang-su-ri is most memorable place for me

If I will go back at the high school times, I still decide to go Yangseo high school at the yang-su-ri. During that time, I learned that life with nature and friends is beautiful thing. So Yang-su-ri is my second hometown

Compare & Contrast essay : Turn off your Air-conditioner

Turn off Your Air-conditioner

By Ben

Nowadays, Korea is very hot, moggy. So, we don't want to go where it doesn't exist air-conditioner. We want cool, and fresh place in summer. In this sight, air-conditioner is very creative invention. But, actually, air-conditioner has a lot of problems. People need to turn off their air-conditioner. There are three reasons why we should turn off the air-conditioner.

First, high cost of electronic fee which is caused by air-conditioner is waste of money. If we reduce to turn on air-conditioner for 1 hour, we can save 100,000 won at least. Furthermore,  the use of electricity of 1 air-conditioner is same as the use of 33.3 electric fans. Both air-conditioner and electric fan makes artificial winds. If you insist you must make indoor cool, I recommend you turn on electric fans, not air-conditioner.

Second, turning on air-conditioner too much will makes national black out. Black out means lack of electricity amount in national level. Because of Korean weather, either company or family bought rapidly air-conditioner in 2011~2013. If we think 'It's Okay just one family turn on the air-conditioner.', Korea will experience black out. Actually, Korea experienced black out at last year.

Third, air-conditioner is different from electric fan in environment sight. Because air conditioner releases some Freon gas while it is working, it is harmful to environment. Freon gas is the main reason of destroying ozone layer. If ozone layer disappears, glacier will be melted by direct ultraviolet lay. So, it will bring global warming.

In these reasons, I think we should turn off the air-conditioner. It has many negative points. It is not to remove air-conditioner. What I mean is ti reduce use of air-conditioner. Some of you already know this proverb. 'If you run after two hares, you will catch neither.' Don't change many things with just cool atmosphere.

Descriptive Essay : My Favorite Vacation

My Favorite Vacation

By Jun
In a vacation, I always go to Cheonan the place I was born. I used to hop a train to go there, but today I often visit by subway. I think that it is as convenient as my own car because I can use the subway anytime.

As soon as I reach my grandmother's house, I can see my cousins who play in a garden like trouble-makers. The garden consists of green, purple, and blue trees and flowers like a rainbow. Someone's perfume makes me imagine sweet cotton candy. A clear sky helps this place feel like a warm heaven. Then, my uncle comes to go to his home with me.

Thirty minutes later, I arrive at my uncle's home. In front of me are two dogs who are barking as loudly as my mother's shouting. His home is recently built. Therefore, I start to help my auncle arrange things in his home. For example, I shovel up soil to cover holes in a waterway outside next to his house. This makes me wet and the sweat from my face falls down like heavy rain.

In the evening, I prepare a barbecue party for supper. The roasted meat is aromatic and the fresh lettuces has clear dew which makes the table and scenery like Leonardo da Vinci's, 'The Last Supper.' Dogs eat delicious meat as fast as the running 'Usain Bolt' and the fumes of Soju let me imagine a dream place where I run on cloud.

The next day, I prepare to go back home early. It's so sad to me but, English camp in KPU will open tomorrow. Therefore, I hop the train with my cousin who goes to Seoul to meet his friends. And hour later, I came home safely. But, my brother bothers me and makes me very, very, very annoyed. Though, this trip was fun and an exciting event in my life!

Compare & Contrast Essay : The Free School Meals

       The Free school Meals

By Jun
In our parents and grandparents generation, they went to school and took a lunch box when they were students. Because of poverty in this generation, their side dish was almost always Kimchi, boiled rice and cereal. Later on in time, in mid 90s, students received lunch from school. Nowadays, school meals are free for students. However free school meals have several problems.

One of the problems is that school meals' quality is decreasing. For example, because of pork or beef's high price and shortages in payment estimates, some companies which offer food for schools don't make nutritious food and don't make a variety of types of Korean side dishes. Therefore, the news often broadcasts stories about meal quality. School lunch is connected with students' health and nutrition so, It is an important problem.

Second, budget which are spent in school are limited. These budgets are used for educational expenses, labor costs and maintenance of institution costs like heating&cooling systems or electricity costs. However, because of free school meals, educational expenses and the maintenance of institution costs have been decreasing. Because of this, students have complaints about the heating&cooling systems in classes. And in addition to this, Teachers in class have problems with shortages of educational materials.

The last, related to the method of how to use a tax usefully. Before the government started free school meals, under privileged students already got free meals from the government. And the rich and the middle class have enough to live their lives and also eat school charged meals. There are many people who need the money or who should get welfare benefits, but it is used on people who don't need it. It's a waste of money.

It's a everyone's hope who raises a students that children get a high quality education and nutritive meals. But now Free school meals is not effective for their class. Not only the school surroundings are going to bad but also the lunch in school is going to have low quality. Therefore, Free school meals must be abolished now. Because free school meals have several problems.

Descriptive Essay : Baseball in Stadium

Baseball in Stadium

By Ben

Baseball stadium is one of the must-see place! When I was 7, my family went to watch a baseball game. As I remembered, it was a very lovely, bright spring day. Humming delightfully like a bird, we entered the Jam-sil Stadium.

It was my first time watching baseball, so my heart beat like a motor boat sailing on the sea. Before the start, dad came with friends named 'chicken'. I have loved chicken since I was born., but the chicken which I ate outside was fantastic. If I had had much money, I would have been overweight. Because I realized real flavor of chicken at that time. As soon as we ate one chicken, the game started.

Because I was so young, I didn't know everything about baseball. I was just interested other things. However, when I heard a clear, loud sound, I couldn't help seeing the ground. There was a tiny, white dot flying in the sky. It drew a awesome arch in the air. It was a home-run!

When a batter made a home run, every spectator stood up and cheered simultaneously. I couldn't believe. We acted as if we were one person. In that moment, I saw people's passion, and smelt that also. after the match, my excitement didn't go away until I fell asleep. Since a first experience in a baseball stadium, our family went to the stadium few more times, and I was poisoned by baseball.

I have gone to the baseball stadium about 50 times. There was always full of passion and delight. The most important reason why I became a baseball-hoilc is I can say 'see-ya' to my stress.

My experience
Bill

Has your dream ever been changed by yourself or by something that happened to you? Well, mine was. At first I wanted to be a lawyer. Now I think that dream was created by my parents's hope. If I were a lawyer, I would happy but that is not what I really wanted to be. There is an experience about my dream.

In high school, I usually played. baseball. I thought "I want to be a baseball player." There are two reasons why I wanted to be a baseball player and why I couldn't be it.

One day, I went to Ducksue high school to play baseball with my teenage team. There was Lotte Giants minor team couldn't anticipate. Regardless, we started our practice. But one man came over. He was the manager of Lotte. He asked me, "Why don't you play baseball?" I was really, wholeheartedly excited and thought 'I wanted to be a baseball player.'

But unfortunately, I had an injury on my shoulder because of my born mechanism and continuing practice. I couldn't play baseball any more. So I couldn't enter any baseball team. Finally, I gave up my dream. I felt upset but that didn't make me depressed.

After that, I started to study. First I studied the Korean SAT. But my grade was not so good. So I studied one more year and finally, I entered this university. Now I'm a student of KPU and I'm majoring industrial design. Now my dream is car designer. I like this dream and I will catch it.

Narrative Essay : An Active Volcano

 An Active Volcano
By Min

How many times do you use swear words when you talk? I used to use swear words unconsciously in elementary school. I didn't know the meaning of words. I just used abusive language with my friends. Now I'm deeply regretful and ashamed of my behaviour.

While I was in sixth grade, I experienced a stormy period. I was short-tempered. I got angry easily when I played with my friends and talked with my mom. I didn't know why I got angry easily at that time.

One day, I realized I was becoming negative. I remember feeling confused and a little scared. I didn't know what I should do. I anguished at the problem that my character was changing like an active volcano.

Later, I studied the meaning of swear words. I was surprised at the meaning.
"Is it an expression that I said?". I decided to change my words and behaviour immediately. Although it wasn't easy to change, as time passed, I became positive and more caring than before I didn't know the meaning of negative swear words.

When I look back upon those days, it all seems like a nightmare. But I changed my bad habit and don't talk automatically. Although I went through a stormy period of adolescence, I know what to say and how to speak reasonably.

Compare & Contrast ESSAY : Advantages to do an outside activity

Advantages to do an outside activity
  By Bill
People who succeeding to get a job have 731 TOEIC grades and 3.5 university grades. Now companies already knew that. Are students satisfy their university life? There is one thing that almost students miss. It is outside activities. Nowadays, outside activities have many advantages. From now on, tell students 3 big advantages to do an outside activity. First, it can be a specification, second, you can meet so many people and third, you can learn what you want.
First, it can be a specification. Nowadays, Specification is just as important as high grades. So, you should get a specification. Outside activities can be a specification. When you find a job, if you did an outside activity, you would get a additional point.
Second, students can meet so many people. Meeting many people is in contrast with not doing it. If you do an outside activity, They can meet so many people having another major, age, even office workers. They can be a good friends and advisors. And also, meeting so many people is interesting things. For example, in this english camp, we met so many people and had a good time. If you do an outside activity, you can experience the emotion same as it again.
Last, students can learn what they really want. Because of korean education system, many students have a different major from what they want. Through doing an outside activity, students can solve this problem. Students can learn what they want to learn and can learn more deeply.
Some people say “We have no time to do an outside activity.” But, it is wrong thought. Students who do an outside activity can learn how to schedule their time. Students who do it must can schedule their time well while students who don't do it can’t do it well. Students are too young to just stay in a university.

Compare & Contrast : Lookism

<Lookism>

BY.SOJEONG

One woman who got plastic surgery over 20 times is called “fan woman”. This is a result of lookism. Lookism is discrimination or prejudice based on a person’s physical appearance. When she was around 20 years old, she was very pretty, but she didn’t love herself, so she started plastic surgery and she became addicted. Our society has a serious   problem. Lookism is dangerous and can cause people to commits suicide.

One of the most basic disadvantages of lookism is a healthy. Many people diet for their looks. People who are fat get so many diseases, so if he or she exercise, then they get a healthy body and grow strong in health. But if you do excessive dieting, then you will get serious problem. For example, you can see the models that don’t eat any food for looks. They get many diseases like anorexia, osteoporosis, and even die.

In addition, another disadvantage of lookism is that people don’t care about personality; they just see appearance and judge based on looks. For example, many teenagers bully student who have ugly face. They don’t have reasons, just it’s because they believe other students have an ugly face. This problem happens many times in Korea. Even some students commit suicide because of their looks. Also in companies, during an interview, interviewers usually say, “We care about the appearance of an applicant”. This is a serious problem that needs to be takes care of.

Finally, plastic surgery is big problem. According to, The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ISAPS), 15 million people across the globe turns to plastic surgery to enhance their looks, and Korea is number one for the number of plastic surgery who get. It is possible to this around friends, they spend so much money on their looks and they get plastic surgery. Many negative side effects can be seen about plastic surgery.

Lookism is terrible thing. We must be aware this situation is a serious problem. Then we have to see mass media critically. Don’t judge a book by its cover!

Narrative Essay : Country Bicycle Tour

Country Bicycle Tour

by Tony

“Welcome to  Busan by bike” I had a cross-country bicycle tour. The tour program goes on the path from Incheon to Busan which is about 700km long. While on short leave from the community service, luckily, I heard that the bike path from Incheon and Busan was opened for public. Moreover, the government also provides someone an honor medal and certificate for people who finish the course. I thought it would be better for me to ride alone and not with friends so that I could strengthen myself and it was. I met various people and hardships which are now a part of my memorable experiences.

On the first day, when the soil was a little wet and, it was still dark outside, I started pedaling. When I arrived at the park, my bike’s chain connection is not good. There were no street lights and there weren’t even people around. I was totally fed up and frustrated by the situation. Minutes later, some lights showed up with an old man. Luckily, the man suffers from insomnia, and so could help me. The old man helped fix my bike so that I could continue my journey again.

On the next day, I met another old man along the journey. When we had talk for several minutes, I found out that he is a far relative of mine. Since it was Chuseok, the Korean, thanksgiving holiday, he suggested that I have breakfast with him. This suggestion was very striking to me. After I got some energy and was warmed up, I could get back on my way. I really appreciated him- even now.

On the third day, I had to say good-bye to my friend who I met and went up a hill together with me for 2 hours due to my tire that gone flat. If I hadn’t paused my trip because of the flat tire incident, I might have arrived at Degu city with him. My bike frame was so broken that I couldn’t fix it. Instead, I tried to find a place to repair it. Because the repair shop was so far, I had to hitchhike. Fortunately, one guy allowed me to load my bike up on the truck. After repairing it, I could continue my trip again.

On the Fourth day, it was very boring and strenuous, because the path showed up same thing after another, for example, there was a river on the left side and rice paddy on the right or vice versa. It was too rough and long. Moreover, there were no one and I was totally 6alone and feel blue until I met a Buddhist monk who invited me to take a rest in his place and have lunch together.

On the Last day of journey, I was the 5564th person who had finished the path. I completed the tour. I recommend you to do this.

Descriptive Essay: KPU

 KPU
By. Duri

Let me tell you about Korea Polytechnic University, KPU, which is my school. I think my school is too small and nothing special. So, I never try to observate my school. Although it is smaller than other universities, everything in KPU is really precious to me.

KPU is located in Jeongwang Dong, Shiheung City. It is near The Gyeonggi College of science. If you go to the KPU, you should get off at Jeoungwang subway station and you can take bus 20-1 or a KPU school bus. It takes about 5 minutes from the station to KPU. It can be separated by three parts. One part is student’s dormitory & Techno Industry Polytechnic building (TIP) and Gym. Other part is buildings listen to class. The other is an academic fusion center and Shiheung Business Center that are built recently.

When you walk to an entrance to the dormitory (TIP), you can see a playground, gym and basketball court where many students always play sports. These places are like a heart of KPU. Because KPU is a Tech University, most students are men who love sports. If there aren’t these places, we would be as good as dead. When you walk through KPU, you can see some building made of old, rough, brown bricks. There is a bunker that is surrounded by the buildings. Many events happen at the bunker such as contests, a department events or parties. When you pass the bunker, you can see a nice building that has a window wall and is fancy. On the right side of it, there is a nicer building that built recently.

In my opinion, there are some memorable places at the KPU. First, there is TIP. When I was a fresh man, I had to live in a TIP dormitory mandatorily. Likewise all my friends lived in TIP.  So, I had a roommate for the first time. I enjoyed freedom from my parents. At that time, I used to eat PaDack & drink beer with friends till dawn. It was a time I use to play the most. I was a puppy on a loose leash. I don’t regret. The second memorable place is the library in the KPU. When I feel a burning passion of others, it makes me think about working hard.

The KPU is an important place to me. Actually I have never known that the KPU becomes a precious place to me for 3 years. I have to say good bye after one year. The fact makes me sad. I realize I really love my school.

A Train Trip During Last Winter Vacation

A Train Trip During Last Winter Vacation

By. Duri

Some people want to travel abroad because they are familiar with their country and don’t realize how wonderful their country is. I also thought this. However, one day I changed my opinion. To someone who wants to go travel, now I say, “you should first go travel around in your own country.

Last winter vacation, I planned to go on a “RAIL-RO” trip that is trip by train. It is possible to go to wherever you want by train for a week. I was really looking forward to going with my best friends. We made perfect preparations. For example, we searched in famous sites and drew up a schedule. We finally decided to travel from East Sea to Deagu city.

On the first day, we arrived at the East sea train station. We were very surprised because of the beautiful nature, shining sea, great mountains and fresh air. We also visited Ojukheon ‘that is Sinsa-imdang’s house and Jungdongjin beach. These places were very nice places to travel. Because there is good transportation and many directional signs. Therefore, I think the first day was good.

After we left the city Donghea, we went to Jeachon, Andong, Taebaek, Gyeongju, Busan and Daegu. The best city of them, all was Busan. If you want to travel for one day, I recommend Busan. There are many beautiful tourist attractions. For example, Gwangun bridge and Heawundea beach are good places to go. The most memorable place was a bath house where I could see a view of Gwangun bridge at night. It was very beautiful, especially the sparkling lights and trembling waves. Descriptive Essay : Annual Hometown

Annual Hometown

By Min

My family holds a memorial service for our ancestors. It is an annual event so we can all meet each other. We do not only hold a memorial service, but also come together. I couldn't sleep the previous day. Because of the romance of travel, I counted thousands of sheep.

It took a very long time to go to my parent's hometown. My house is located in Seoul but the hometown is located in Jeongeup. It was not convenient for taking a subway or using public transportation. However, it was perfect for taking a rest because it's unspoiled and slow-paced. In contrast to Seoul, I could have an easy time and feel composed in my parent's hometown.

In the late evening my family arrived at Jeongeup. My relatives welcomed my family. My family was so tired that we went to bed like lighting. The day after, I was awakened by the crowing of a sad rooster. Fresh air made me sing an air. After dark, we held a memorial service for our ancestors.

My parent's hometown are not located in an urban community but located in a rural community. So I could spend time wrapped up my body from an unpolluted forest. I was able to watch the crowing of a sad rooster, shining diamonds in the sky and eat pure foods. The harmonies of those things made me feel relaxed.

I used to count thousands of sheep. The important thing was holding a memorial service but the reason I counted thousands of sheep was the romance of travel. Nothing was not polluted and everything was natural. I grew up right because I realized the preciousness of natural things.
