Annual Hometown
By Min
My family holds a memorial service for our ancestors. It is an annual event so we can all meet each other. We do not only hold a memorial service, but also come together. I couldn't sleep the previous day. Because of the romance of travel, I counted thousands of sheep.
It took a very long time to go to my parent's hometown. My house is located in Seoul but the hometown is located in Jeongeup. It was not convenient for taking a subway or using public transportation. However, it was perfect for taking a rest because it's unspoiled and slow-paced. In contrast to Seoul, I could have an easy time and feel composed in my parent's hometown.
In the late evening my family arrived at Jeongeup. My relatives welcomed my family. My family was so tired that we went to bed like lighting. The day after, I was awakened by the crowing of a sad rooster. Fresh air made me sing an air. After dark, we held a memorial service for our ancestors.
My parent's hometown are not located in an urban community but located in a rural community. So I could spend time wrapped up my body from an unpolluted forest. I was able to watch the crowing of a sad rooster, shining diamonds in the sky and eat pure foods. The harmonies of those things made me feel relaxed.
I used to count thousands of sheep. The important thing was holding a memorial service but the reason I counted thousands of sheep was the romance of travel. Nothing was not polluted and everything was natural. I grew up right because I realized the preciousness of natural things.
